Paul Krassner's 'Who's To Say What's Obscene?'

Portions of Woody's infamous DISNEYLAND MEMORIAL ORGY poster, once surpressed, turned up on the cover of a relatively recent book by Paul Krassner, whose magazine THE REALIST originally published it back in the sixties. Perhaps purposely, even here portions are censored.
Thanks to John Firehammer for the heads up on this book.

  1. This is a tricky issue. To me, Woody was a cartooning god. I also have some understanding of the use of proprietary characters for satiric purposes. In the case of the Disney characters, a lot of effort has been expended by the corporate folks to keep them with a squeaky clean wholesome image. I can certainly understand the Disney guys becoming a bit miffed at this use of their characters.
Remember this, our legal system pretty much says anyone can sue anyone else for anything and Disney has plenty of money to do so. I can't imagine that I would have a satiric point to make that would want to face those lawyers...right or wrong, it could be ruinous. Thanks for the post on your very good website. I'll be back again and again. Please come visit me at boblillycomics.blogspot.com
